Applying for your Associate Professional Counselor APC licensure

- The application is 12 pages, and you must complete each section, starting on page 3.
TIP:
Do NOT leave any section blank within the application. If you do not have another to put in the section, best practice is to enter “N/A” within that section.
- The new board requirements for APC in the state of Georgia requires you to have a 60 hour CACREP program with the specific coursework listed within the application.
- You must have a passing score on the NCE (National Counselor Exam). This exam is offered by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC).
TIP:
If you have to receive approval from a CACREP institution and/or the Georgia State Board before you can register for this exam in the state of Georgia.
If you have not taken the NCE before you apply, and are not currently enrolled in a university, you can still apply for your APC. The Georgia State Board will email you with the information regarding your access to register for the NCE.
- Effective July 1, 2022 each applicant for licensure must register and provide fingerprints for a nationwide criminal background check to be conducted at your expense.
